Happy Thanksgiving 2011

I hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year! It was a very nice day and full of great food!! I made my very first turkey all by myself. I think it turned out okay. We had about 15 people there....Mom, Ronald, Merlin, Janet, Paul, Uncle Jerry, Lucy, Conner, Richard, Kristi, Jimmy, Tony and us.

We missed Kristin, Dave and the kids as they celebrated with Dave's Family. We also missed Barbie, Brian and the kids as they went to Texas for the holiday.

Deer vs Truck

Tommy was coming home from work Monday November 21st when all of a sudden out of the blue a deer runs right out in front of him!! Luckily, Tommy was driving our truck and not his little car. The deer was killed instantly by the truck and the truck came to a stop about 10-15 feet after the hit! I guess we can say the Truck won!! It will need some repairs - not sure how much yet!!

The cop told Tommy he could have the deer if he wanted it. So, since we are not hunters, Tommy gave his buddy Chris a call to see if he wanted it. Chris did. Tommy and Merlin loaded it up in Merlin's truck and hauled it over to Chris's house. Chris did get a tag from the Department of Wildlife. Merry Christmas Chris - can't say we never gave you anything....like a dead animal!

If you look closely, you can see
the deer imprint!

We thank God that Tommy is fine, we were able to keep the deer and bless our friend, and the truck seems fixable.

Swim Lessons

We put both the kids in swim lessons! We decided to do the Saturday morning lessons - so there are only 4 sessions. Evelyn is in a Parent-Tot class and Josiah is in his very own 3 year old group (no parents allowed).

Evelyn is a fish in the water. The first time Mommy took her and the second time Daddy took her. She loved it both times. She is excellent at jumping off the wall into the water!!

Josiah loves being a big boy and having his own special class without Mommy and Daddy. He has a little friend from school in his swim class which is an extra bonus! Josiah does pretty good....excited to see him do it on his own.

Having to say Goodbye to our Companion Kellogg

Tommy and I bought Kellogg and Raisin in July 2006. They came from the same litter and we fell in love with the both of them, but technically Kellogg (the runt of the litter) was Tommy's dog and Raisin was mine. They are pure bred American Bulldogs and are related to Chance from Homeward Bound.

Best of Friends

Kellogg and Raisin grew up together - they were sisters but they were also the Best of Friends. Kellogg was our dog that always had something wrong with her.

She loved this Dog

My kids love the dogs and the dogs love them and are really good with them. They let them climb on them, pull on them, sit on them. One of Evelyn's first words was "Dog".

In October 2011, we took Kellogg into the Vet because she had been limping on and off with her left front paw. The Vet thought it was tendinitis or arthritis and gave us some pills. After a week of not getting better and playing as hard as Kellogg always did she got to the point where she wasn't using the leg at all. We took her back to the Vet so he could do an X-Ray. What he found shocked us all - even him. The complete wrist had been taken over by Bone Cancer. He told us we could amputate and do chemo but that there was a high chance the Cancer had spread elsewhere. Tommy and I took Kellogg home for an additional week, and than decided to put her sleep on Nov. 5th. It was a very sad day for the Probasco Family.

We are going to miss Kellogg - even the annoying things she did. I know Raisin already misses her and I hope we can provide enough comfort to her in this time.
